Cotton Inspection and Testing

Cotton inspection and testing services are internationally recognized as providing farmers, traders, forwarders and spinning mills with a high level of expertise and independence. Pre-Shipment Inspection for Cotton Importers and Buyers

Prior to loading, SGS inspects, supervises and tests the Cotton Fibre on behalf of domestic and International clients. PSI Services are available in East and West Africa, Brazil, India, Pakistan, Central Asia, Iran, Latvia, Sudan, Egypt, China and the US. By opting for PSI, our clients know well in advance the exact quality of goods that are being shipped in any given container. This information allows clients to plan the production or allocation schedule and thereby minimize risk of rejection. This service also helps alleviate any potential quality claims and can improve production operation and efficiency. The operation entails representative Pre- and Post-Shipment sampling performed by our own SGS-trained inspectors. As per clients' requirements, the samples can be sent to you for your approval or alternatively tested by visual or mechanical methods using one of the SGS HVI Machine Laboratories.

Post-Shipment Seal Breaking/Devanning/Tallying Services (S/D/T)

This is a service which verifies the full content of the containers and railcars. S/T/D can be supervised wherever the containers and railcars are being de-stuffed, at the landing port, station or mill. Both importers and exporters can be certain of the reporting which confirms what goods have arrived and in what condition the consignment was received. Container Numbers, External Condition of Container, Container Seals, Number of Bales and Condition of Bales are checked/declared. This minimizes the scope of undue claims between transacting parties.
